Multilingual SEO: getting hreflang right
hreflang tells Google which version to serve to which visitor. Misconfigured, it sabotages your international SEO.
hreflang is a signal that links versions of the same page in different languages. Done right, it avoids duplicate content and serves the right language to the right visitor.
One clean URL per language
Each language deserves a distinct, stable URL (for example /fr/ and /en/). That’s the foundation of healthy multilingual SEO — and what a native Polylang setup produces.
Reciprocal tags
hreflang tags must be reciprocal: if the FR page points to the EN page, the reverse must be true. An asymmetry and Google ignores the signal.
hreflang doesn’t boost bad content — it just stops your good pages from cannibalizing each other across languages.
