DeepL, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI or DeepSeek: which should you use?

The five providers AutoLingo supports have different strengths. Here’s how to choose based on your content and budget.

AutoLingo lets you plug in five translation engines: DeepL, Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, OpenAI and DeepSeek. The right choice depends on your content type, target languages and budget. The good news: you can switch any time from your settings.

DeepL — quality by default

DeepL produces the most natural translations, especially for European languages. Its free tier covers 500,000 characters per month, plenty for a small site. It’s AutoLingo’s default recommendation.

Google Translate — widest coverage

If you target less common languages, Google Translate handles the most language pairs. Quality is solid for most marketing and e-commerce content.

Microsoft Translator — the biggest free quota

Microsoft Translator gives 2,000,000 free characters a month, four times DeepL’s. Its quality is close to Google’s, with wide language coverage.

OpenAI — flexibility

OpenAI shines on creative or highly specialized content, where you want to tune the tone via the prompt. It’s also the most relevant when your brand glossary matters.

DeepSeek — the cheapest AI

DeepSeek is the cheapest AI option per character. Useful for large volumes when you want AI translation without OpenAI’s price.

You don’t have to pick just one

Enter several keys: when one provider’s quota runs out, AutoLingo translates with the next (DeepL, Microsoft, Google, then OpenAI and DeepSeek). With free DeepL, Google and Microsoft accounts, that is about 3,000,000 free characters a month.

Start with DeepL, add Microsoft and Google for the free quota. Move to OpenAI if your content has a strong voice, to DeepSeek for large volumes.
